As the South African football transfer window approaches, Kaizer Chiefs are wasting no time in identifying targets to revamp their squad – and their eyes are firmly fixed on reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns. The Soweto giants have reportedly made enquiries for several Sundowns players, many of whom have struggled for regular game time this season.
Defensive Reinforcements on the Radar
Top of Chiefs' wish list is left-back Terrence Mashego, whose contract with Sundowns expires at the end of the 2024/2025 season. Chiefs previously showed interest in Mashego during the January window, and with Sundowns recently bolstering their defence with signings like Keanu Cupido and Lucas Suarez, the move could now be more feasible. Chiefs are keen to strengthen their backline, and Mashego’s proven PSL experience makes him a strong candidate.
Creative Midfield Targets: Maema, Mkhulise, and Mbule
In midfield, Chiefs are looking for creative spark and technical proficiency. Neo Maema, a player known for his flair and vision, is reportedly on their radar. Sipho Mbule is another name in the mix. Having revived his form during a loan spell at Sekhukhune United, the talented midfielder was previously linked with Chiefs. However, Sundowns are reportedly set to activate a contract extension clause, which could complicate any potential transfer.

Despite limited minutes at Sundowns, Aubaas' standout international display has caught the attention of Chiefs' scouts. The club sees him as a potential long-term solution in midfield, blending youth with composure and work rate.
