Big Blow for Pyramids FC After Sundowns Draw in CAF Champions League Final

Pyramids FC head coach Krunoslav Jurcic has revealed a significant setback for his team’s preparations ahead of the decisive second leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

This result gives Pyramids a slight edge heading into the second leg, with the away goals rule potentially in their favor.

However, despite this positive outcome on the pitch, Jurcic lamented the lack of institutional support from their home country as they face a congested schedule. The coach revealed that the team will have less than a full week to prepare for the return leg due to an impending Egyptian Premier League match against Ceramica Cleopatra on Wednesday.

“Pyramids FC receives no support within Egypt, despite representing the country in the most important continental tournament,” Jurcic said in a candid post-match interview. “Just 48 hours after the final, we have to travel to Ismailia for a crucial league clash against Ceramica, a match that does not allow for substitutions because of its importance.”

Jurcic also praised his players’ resilience and fighting spirit after conceding the opening goal to Sundowns. “I am saddened by the missed opportunities, but at the same time, I’m very happy with the players’ reaction, their high spirits, and their strong comeback after going behind by a goal,” he said. “This resilience has been a hallmark of our team throughout the season, both in the domestic league and continental championship.”

The second leg promises to be a tense and tightly contested encounter as Pyramids aim to capitalize on their away goal advantage and bring the CAF Champions League trophy to Egypt.
