Transfer Saga: Kaizer Chiefs New Signing Breaks Silence

Kaizer Chiefs winger Asanele Velebayi has finally spoken out about the difficult and emotional journey that led to his long-awaited move to the Soweto giants. The 23-year-old attacker joined Amakhosi after a protracted transfer saga involving his former club, Cape Town Spurs. Velebayi’s move was delayed last year due to a contract dispute between the two clubs, with Spurs initially demanding a transfer fee. However, following their relegation, National Soccer League regulations allowed the winger to secure a free move to Naturena.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Velebayi admitted that the uncertainty surrounding his future was one of the most challenging periods of his career. “I have always wanted to play for this club,” Velebayi told GOAL. “I am just grateful to finally be here. “It was a tough moment, not only for me but for my family as well,” he said. Despite the distractions and legal complications, Velebayi credits his mental strength and discipline for helping him stay ready during the uncertain period. “I would like to compliment myself for staying focused, staying fit and making sure I was ready because I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be,” he explained. “I wanted to come to Chiefs, so mentally I stayed strong, kept fit and didn’t allow myself to be distracted.” Now officially an Amakhosi player, Velebayi is eager to put the past behind him and focus on making an impact in the famous gold and black jersey.
