Reports: Kaizer Chiefs Locked in Fierce Transfer Battle for Nigerian Striker

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly battling it out with North African giants EspĂ©rance de Tunis and Al-Ittihad Tripoli for the signature of Nigerian striker Clement Ikenna.

The 22-year-old forward is a free agent after parting ways with Bulgarian top-flight side Levski Sofia last month and has quickly become a hot target across the continent.

According to BSN Sports, Amakhosi have registered their interest despite already bolstering their frontline with three strikers in the current window — Flavio Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro, and the high-profile arrival of Khanyisa Mayo. Chiefs also retain the services of Ashley du Preez, Wandile Duba, and Tashreeq Morris, bringing their current striking options to seven.

However, the Soweto giants are believed to still be on the hunt for more attacking depth, with Ikenna’s versatility and European experience making him a valuable prospect.

“Clement wants a club where he can grow and compete at the highest level. All three teams are serious, but the decision will depend on sporting ambition as much as the financial terms,” a source told BSN Sports.

With the transfer window closing soon, Chiefs will need to act swiftly if they are to secure Ikenna’s signature and fend off stiff competition from Tunisia and Libya.

The Nigerian’s next move is expected to be confirmed in the coming days, and Amakhosi fans will be eager to see whether the Glamour Boys can win this high-profile race.
