Orlando Pirates Set to Decide on Bandile Shandu’s Future

 Orlando Pirates are currently in talks with Bandile Shandu’s representative, Mike Makaab, as the Soweto giants move closer to making a decision on the experienced player’s future at the club.

Shandu’s contract with the Buccaneers is due to expire at the end of the current season, placing his long-term stay at Orlando Stadium under review. The 31-year-old is in his sixth season with the club, having joined the Sea Robbers from Maritzburg United ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Since his arrival, Shandu has proven to be a valuable and versatile member of the squad. Although he was initially signed as a midfielder, he has spent the majority of his time at Pirates operating as a right-back, a role in which he has shown consistency and adaptability. His ability to perform in multiple positions has often made him a reliable option for various coaching setups over the years.

In terms of numbers, Shandu has made 110 appearances in Pirates colours, contributing 11 goals and five assists across all competitions. “Bandile, his contract is expiring at the end of the season,” Makaab told iDiski Times. “But I’m engaged in discussions with Orlando Pirates. Next week, we’ll know exactly where we stand.”
