Kaizer Chiefs are moving swiftly to sharpen some rough edges on their playing squad. Here’s how things stand.

Sabele Radebe leaves Naturena along with two other senior stars.

Chiefs will soon seal deals for Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako.

Sabelo Radebe is no longer a Chiefs player. The 25-year-old got his first taste of senior football at the club in 2017-2028. He only had two Betway Premiership outings this season. He’s only notched a total of 18 appearances. Meanwhile, goal-shy Ranga Chivaviro also departs and Njabulo Blom returns to the United States MLS at the end of his loan spell.

Chiefs want to learn from their mistakes with Billiat

Chiefs still have Khama Billiat’s underwhelming stint at the club fresh in their memories. Now, they’re hesitant to hand a bumper deal to a player over the age of 30. Billiat and Keagan Dolly were two of the country’s best-paid players, but both failed to live up to the hype at Naturena.

“The team feels that apparently they believe they have learnt a lesson from the signing of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly,” an inside source explained.

“They paid a lot of money, but the club believes those returns were not worth it. So that’s why they are looking at other forward players apart from Percy Tau. So, for now, he is not one of the targets. But in football, you never know what will happen in future. But definitely not now.”

What do you make of Chiefs’ business so far?
