It appears that the Kaizer Chiefs are switching targets, focusing on an up-and-coming player instead of a Bafana Bafana veteran.
The players in question are Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis and veteran Percy Tau. The latter is reportedly close to signing a contract with the Soweto giants, who made their first attempt to sign him almost a year ago.
How about Tau?
Although Tau is a free agent, the Kaizer Chiefs have chosen not to sign the 31-year-old after Khama Billiat was signed.
According to an insider, "the team feels that apparently they believe they have learned a lesson from the signing of Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly."
The club feels that those returns were not worth the large sum of money they paid. For this reason, they are considering forwards besides Percy Tau.
He is therefore not a target at this time. However, you never know what the future holds in football. But not right now, for sure.
"Of course there was a time when the club was interested in signing Percy Tau and that was when he was about to leave Aly Ahly," said a second source, reinforcing Kaizer Chiefs' change of direction.
However, that is no longer the case. Both the recruitment department and the technical team have decided not to sign Percy Tau this time. Apparently, the coach does not currently have any plans to do so. They withdrew from that race.
