Kaizer Chiefs are continuing their aggressive transfer push, now looking beyond the African continent to find a solution to their goal-scoring struggles. After a failed pursuit of Fiston Mayele, the club has turned its attention to Europe, with Slovakian forward Robert Polievka emerging as a prime target. Polievka, 28, currently plies his trade with MTK Budapest in Hungary. Despite only netting four goals in 26 appearances last season, his technical ability, movement off the ball, and work ethic have caught the attention of Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi. Chiefs are reportedly exploring the possibility of negotiating with the Hungarian club, though Polievka remains under contract until 2027.
Nabi, who is under pressure to revamp the club’s attacking force before the 2025/26 season, is believed to be spearheading the move, as Chiefs look to bolster their squad ahead of their pre-season tour in the Netherlands. The move for Polievka would be a bold one, signaling the Soweto giants’ willingness to scout talent globally.
On the local front, Chiefs are reportedly on the brink of sealing a deal for left-back Paseka Mako. The 31-year-old recently parted ways with Orlando Pirates after seven successful seasons, during which he won four MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups. Despite Pirates offering him a new contract, Mako is said to have opted for a move to Naturena, with personal terms already agreed. Mako’s potential arrival, along with Thabiso Monyane from Pirates, could give Chiefs a completely new-look full-back duo heading into the new season. With moves being made both locally and internationally, Kaizer Chiefs are clearly serious about rebuilding their squad to challenge for silverware and restore their dominance in South African football
