Chiefs' Striker Target Fiston Mayele's Future Decided By Pyramids?

 

Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has recently been heavily linked to interest in Pyramids SC striker Fiston Mayele. The prolific forward became a very talked about subject when he started to make progress at the Egyptian Premier League club becoming an influential part of their attacking option.

Mayele's rise to becoming a high-profile striker also played a big part in Fagrie Lakay's lack of game-time at the Egyptian side which ended in a loan move for Lakay as Mayele established himself as the Pyramids favourite in attack.

In the 2024/25 campaign Mayele was at his best with his North African side playing a big role in landing a second place finish in the Egyptian Premier League behind leaders Al Ahly, reaching the Egyptian Cup final and winning the CAF Champions League competition.

What attracted several clubs to him was his tremendous impact in the CAF Champions League for Pyramids as he scored nine goals in 13 Champions League appearances for his club resulting in winning the continental competition. It was the first time Pyramids got to lift the prestigious trophy.

Fiston Mayele had been linked to several clubs because of his goal scoring prowess and linked to a move away from Pyramids. He has been linked to Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns among others but Pyramids will have to decide his future.

According to an insider, Pyramids SC however has no intention of selling the striker. He noted that the player along with other key players will remain at the club especially with the Egyptian side playing in so many competitions next season.

The source added that the club will be tending to their attack signing new additions but doesn't mean that Fiston Mayele will be leaving. This might indicate that Pyramids have decided the player's future at the club.

In previous reports, it was reported that Pyramids offered him a new salary after his performances last season to secure his stay in Egypt. However, we'll know in the next few weeks what happens regarding the future of Mayele if he's to stay or be sold to confirm the sources claims.
