NO INJURY, NO SUSPENSION THEN WHY Chiefs Coach Justifies Surprise Squad Change

Nabi Clarifies Msimango Absence in Chiefs’ Clash Against Chippa United

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has offered clarity on the absence of key central defender Given Msimango during Sunday evening’s goalless draw against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The exclusion of Msimango, a regular fixture in the Chiefs’ defensive setup, raised eyebrows among supporters, especially given the significance of the encounter as the Soweto giants continue their push for a strong finish in the league.

Speaking to the media post-match, Nabi confirmed that Msimango’s omission was not due to tactical reasons or disciplinary action, but rather a precautionary measure stemming from a minor injury concern.

“Given had some discomfort during the final training session,” Nabi revealed. “We didn’t want to take any risks, especially with a heavy fixture schedule ahead and the derby coming up. We need him fully fit.”

Chiefs deployed a backline featuring the likes of Zitha Kwinika and Edmilson Dove in Msimango’s absence, managing to secure a clean sheet but falling short in front of goal.

With a crucial double header of Soweto Derbies on the horizon including a league encounter and the Nedbank Cup final Nabi and his technical team will be eager to have Msimango back to full fitness to bolster their defensive solidity.
