Kaizer Chiefs' Pursuit of Tanzanian Midfielder Feisal Salum Thwarted by Azam FC
Johannesburg, January 13, 2025 – Kaizer Chiefs’ hopes of securing talented Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum have suffered a setback as his current club, Azam FC, has firmly rejected any transfer negotiations.
The Amakhosi, who have been scouting Salum for several months, were eager to bring the 24-year-old to South Africa to bolster their midfield options. Known for his vision, technical ability, and passing range, Salum has been a standout performer for Azam FC in the Tanzanian Premier League, attracting interest from top clubs across Africa.
However, Azam FC, one of Tanzania's most prominent football clubs, has made it clear that they are not willing to part ways with their star player at this time. The club released an official statement reaffirming their commitment to keeping Salum, citing his importance to their squad as a key reason for the decision.
“The club values Feisal Salum highly and considers him a cornerstone of their plans for the upcoming season,” Azam FC management said in the statement. “We are not entertaining any transfer discussions, as he is integral to our success.”
Kaizer Chiefs, who have been working to strengthen their squad ahead of the second half of the season, will now have to explore alternative options. The club has been under pressure to improve their midfield depth after a string of inconsistent performances.
