Kaizer Chiefs are turning to their youth development system to bolster their squad, particularly in the right-back position, as they continue their hunt for a striker. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has emphasized improving the team’s attacking capabilities, leading to a strategic shift in squad management.
Nineteen-year-old Sfiso Timba, a standout in the club’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team, has been promoted to the senior squad to provide depth at right-back. With only Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons as primary options in the position, Chiefs identified the need for additional cover. According to a source, “The club feels Timba could fit well in the right-back position and be a solid backup for the senior players.”
Despite his promotion, Timba will maintain his match fitness by continuing to feature for the DDC side while training full-time with the senior team. This dual-role approach ensures he remains sharp and gains valuable first-team experience. The Chiefs are also closely collaborating with DDC coach Vela Khumalo to facilitate the seamless transition of young talent into the first team.
